SAY Si is the Regional Affiliate for the San Antonio Art & Writing Awards. We work with students, teachers, schools, and nonprofit arts organizations in Bexar County to promote, organize, adjudicate, and exhibit the regional Scholastic Art Awards. We also submit the top award winning work to the Alliance for national judging.

“Since 1923, the Awards have recognized the exceptional vision of our nation’s youth, and we provide a singular opportunity for students to be noticed for their creative talents. Each year, increasing numbers of creative teens submit their work, and they become a part of our community – young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets, and sculptors, and countless educators who support and encourage the creative process.”

What was once built to house barrels and cases of beer now is filled with creative young minds taking their artistic talents to new heights. SAY Sí Central, opens in an old 25,000 square foot converted warehouse originally built as a JAX brewery distribution site, is now teaming with activity and bursting with new talent.

The Building Campaign that began the transformation was three years in the making and thanks to many donors and a great deal of donated services the art center was completed for only 2.3 million dollars. The new spaces [designed by program founder and San Antonio’s Insite Architect’s principal architect, Mike Schroeder] takes advantage of the open areas and ceiling heights. Contemporary and Industrial are just two ways to describe the design aesthetic. Clean spaces and an eye towards simple materials utilized in innovative ways provide both students and visitors alike a new inspired landmark in the heart of the Blue Star/Southtown arts district in San Antonio.

SAY Sí Central was created to provide the thirteen-year old non-profit an opportunity to expand its projects and to accept additional students into its national award winning programs. The spaces are also now available for rentals and make the perfect venue for both corporate and private events. Facility rental was a key component in the design allowing this tuition-free multidisciplinary arts program for urban youth the opportunity to build earned income revenue, important to sustainability for many local not-for-profits.
