We believe it is time for San Antonio to be one of the next major cities to transform our schools into vibrant, creative and successful learning communities. Our future success as a culturally rich and economically thriving community depends on our children. Mapping out the steps to provide arts opportunities for San Antonio’s children will help equip them with the imagination and innovation to make San Antonio a prosperous community in the 21st century.		Step Up for Arts Education is committed to its mission: Promoting the Arts as essential to human development and advancing opportunities for equal access to superior art education for all in the San Antonio Community.
	20010-11 Step Up for Arts Education Innovative Art Educators Scholarship Guidelines and Application Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be awarded to San Antonio K-12 teachers for the development of arts-centric educational opportunities. DEADLINE: Monday, November 8, 2010 WHAT: K-12 classroom and art teachers are invited to apply for a scholarship to engage in artistic learning for their students or to provide professional development in an arts- related field. Applications are due Monday, November 8, 2010 and teachers will utilize their funding during the 2011 spring semester. WHY: The City of San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs and Step Up for Arts Education scholarships provide teachers professional development in the arts; afford classrooms curriculum enhancement through dance, music, theatre, and visual art; and foster partnerships with arts and cultural organizations and institutions to enrich school learning. WHO: Certified K-12 classroom teachers and art (dance, music, theatre, and visual art) educators in San Antonio may apply.
